Modification Research of Jatropha curcas ProteinBased Adhesive

  • Formaldehyde was used as crosslinker to modify Jatropha curcas. protein based on alkali treatment (NaOH and Ca(OH)2/NaOH).The results showed that Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesive by NaOH treatment had no water resistance, while Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesive by Ca(OH)2/NaOH treatment had some degree of water resistance. Performance and DSC test results showed that whether pure alkali NaOH, or mixed alkali Ca(OH)2/NaOH treatment, degradation degree of Jatropha curcas protein was limited, which resulted to subsequently poor crosslinking reaction between degradation Jatropha curcas protein and formaldehyde.
