Effect of 3 Treatments on Jatropha curcas ProteinBased Adhesive

  • Based on the early study of soybean modifying Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesives, effects of process of NaOHUrea treatment Ca(OH)2/NaOH and NaHSO3 treatment on Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesives were studied in this paper. The results showed that crosslinking reaction between Jatropha curcasprotein treated by the front three processes and subsequent crosslinker was obvious, and the final protein molecular size had played an important role in bonding strength and water resistance of Jatropha curcasproteinbased adhesives. Ca(OH)2/NaOH treatment for Jatropha curcas protein was useless. NaOHUrea treatment for Jatropha curcas protein, performance of Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesives barely met the national standards but crosslinker CRO and pMDI. NaHSO3 treatment for Jatropha curcas protein, then adding the same amount of crosslinker such as KF, CRO and pMDI, bonding performance and water resistance of Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesives improved obviously. After treated by NaHSO3, Jatropha curcas protein could remain protein macromolecular structure as far as possible, and then the water resistance of Jatropha curcas proteinbased adhesives was stronger than other two treatments.
