The Stem Cutting and Different Site Conditions for Afforestation on the Growth Effects of Calotropis gigantean

  • The different stem cutting mode and 2 site conditions for afforestation experiments on Calotropis gigantean were carried out in Yuanjiang, Yunnan 2014.The results show that cut or not had extremely significant difference on the tree height growth and diameter growth that very year, significant difference on crown width growth (North and South), number of leaves and inflorescence growth and had no significant difference on crown width growth (East and West), shoot number growth. Fruit growth under stem cutting and stem cutting+ removal of sprouting, the control group were extremely significant different. The stem cutting a forestation was obviously better than not. And removal of sprouting after stem cutting in the same year had the best effect. Calotropis gigantean is sensitive to light conditions. Under the condition of sufficient sunlight, it can play a fast-growing characteristic in its early stage. To achieve adaptable tree for suitable place, it is recommended to choose light conditions are relatively good plot in the building of Calotropis gigantean.
