Habitat Quality Change in Caohai Nature Reserve from 2000 to 2010

  • We analyzed habitat quality change in Caohai Nature Reserve utilizing the InVEST model from 2000 to 2010. The results showed that other land use types showed significant changes except for water body and unused land, significant area changes could be found among dry land, grassland, builtup land and rural settlements. Habitat quality improved in whole nature reserve, particularly for pilot area. The improvement of habitat quality showed core area > buffer area > pilot area. There were little spatial changes of habitat quality in core area and buffer area. Significant spatial changes of habitat quality in pilot area could be found. Improvement regions of habitat quality were located in east and south parts, while deterioration region of habitat quality was situated in north part. Green for Grain Project is the dominant factor resulting in the improvement of habitat quality, while urban land expansion has a negative effect on the improvement of habitat quality.
