Abstract
The 8yearold Ziziphus jujuba cv. Dongzao was used to study the fruit production and quality under lignified bearing branches topping removal techniques. The results showed that the setting rate after lignified bearing branches topping removal was improved by 4459%, the yield significantly increased, and the longitudinal and transversal diameters of ‘Dongzao’ fruit were reduced. The average fruit weight of topping removal lignified bearing branches was reduced by 37%, but the total output was significantly increased and the fruit coloring area was improved. The VC, total sugar and soluble solids contents were increased by 714%, 837% and 429%, respectively. The total acid, the reducing sugar contents and peel hardness of ‘Dongzao’ were reduced. In conclusion, the fruit quality and its production of ‘Dongzao’ were obviously improved under the lignified bearing branches topping removal techniques.
