Effects of Different Thinning Strength of Larix kaempferi on Coniferous Trees Growth Under Multi-storied Forest

  • An experiment was conducted to study the influence on middled-aged and near-mature plantation of Larix kaempferi in experimental forest of Benxi under 4 strip thinning, including cutting 1 lines and reserving 3 lines (type Ⅰ), cutting 2 lines and reserving 2 lines (type Ⅱ), cutting 3 lines and reserving 1 lines (type Ⅲ) and clear cutting reforestation (type Ⅳ). 4 coniferous tree species of the Pinus koraiensis, L.kaempferi, P.sylvestrisand Picea asperata were selected as the regeneration species of different thinning strength on the effect of compound multi-storied forest with new seedling growth changes. Experimental results showed thatwith the increase of the upper stand tending intensity, lower stand seedling height, diameter, leaf length, main root length, lateral root length and the number of lateral roots have been significantly improved, updated seedling root, stem, leaf and total biomass has also been significantly improved. Tending intensity of upper stand in multi-storied forest determined the growth effect of the regeneration species in lower stand, P.koraiensis and P.asperata in the appropriate shade at the growth period of young forest could achieve optimal effect of growth.
