Abstract
To study the chemical components and ecological function of Ochrochira ferruginea scent gland secretions, the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)was used to analyze the chemical components of scent gland secretions of nymph and adult O.ferruginea. Y-tube olfactometer bioassays were used to test the repelling effects of scent gland secretions and 4 single component compounds to pine shoot beetle, Tomicus yunnanensis. The findings revealed that 16 compounds were detected from the adult bug scent gland secretion, among which the most abundant compounds are hexaldehyde and hexyl acetate with the contents of 15.8% and 16.78%, respectively. The relative content of long-chain alkane compound C27H56 is 14.92%. There are 11 compounds were detected from the nymph bug scent gland secretion, the content of 4-oxo-2-hexenal is up to 57.5%, and the contents of 2-hexenal and 2-octenal are 8.43% and 28.62%. Both adult and nymph bug scent gland secretions displayed significant repelling effects to T.yunnanensis, and as well as the 4 single component compounds in the scent gland secretions.
