Influence of Flame Retardant Concentration on Bonding Strength and Wettability of Eucalyptus Flame-retardant Plywood

Abstract
Eucalyptus flame-retardant plywood was made by 2 different flame retardant methods, i.e. veneer impregnation and board impregnation, and their bonding strength and wettability were measured. The results showed that plywood with board impregnation treatment had higher bonding strength than that treated with veneer impregnation. In case of board impregnation, bonding strength of plywood remained stable with the enlargement of flame retardant concentration, while for veneer impregnation, the bonding strength of plywood varied largely when the flame retardant concentration changed. Fire retarding treatment improved the wettability of veneers. In 5%-15% range of flame retardant concentration, wettability increased with the enlargement of flame retardant concentration.
