Regionalization of Stony Desertification in Yunnan Province

  • The stony desertification area in Yunnan extends from the northern tropics to the alpine climate zone of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is located at 76-5 000 m above sea level and varies greatly in altitude. Influenced by landform, soil, vegetation and various ecological factors, the environmental conditions in this area are complex and varied, with obvious differences. Ecological factors, especially temperature and humidity, have a direct impact on the control of stony desertification and play a decisive role in the division of control region. Geographical factors, environmental factors, disastrous weather, floods, soil and vegetation in stony desertification area were comprehensively analyzed. Sixty-five comprehensive treatment counties of stony desertification in Yunnan were divided into 7 districts, 10 sub-districts and 19 villages. They are the stony desertification areas in the low-mountain valley basin in the north tropics, the middle-low valley basin in the south subtropics, the plateau mountain in the middle subtropics, the high-middle mountain in the north subtropics, the high-middle mountain in the warm temperate zone, the plateau temperate zone in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the dry-hot valley of the Jinsha River. To study the factors affecting the division of stony desertification regions, guide the comprehensive treatment of stony desertification according to local conditions, so as to take different plant measures and engineering measures for different stony desertification regions.
