Leaf Traits and Leaf Economics Spectrum of Main Garden Plants in Kunming

  • Taking 24 main landscaping plants in the urban area of Kunming as the research object. AR, FW, DW, TH and CCI were measured by leaf area meter and chlorophyll meter to analyze the leaf traits such as SLA and DMC of different plants. Results show that at the species level, 7 leaf traits consider varied widely. There is a significant negative correlation between SLA and DMC of 24 species, and extremely significant positive correlations between AR and FW and between AR and DW. There is no significant correlation between any two of other factors. The variation coefficients of 24 species’ leaf traits ranged from 32.73% to 86.43% Compared with other regions, the leaves of Kunming urban landscaping plants were characterized by lower leaf thickness, leaf area, chlorophyll content and higher leaf dry matter content when adapted to habitats. Therefore, common landscaping plants in Kunming adapt to urban habitats by forming different leaf traits.
