Study on Conditions of Cultivation of Spalted Wood on Aquilaria sinensis by 2 Species of Diaporthe spp.

  • In this study, Diaporthe sp. ZXH18-6 and Diaporthe sp. ZXH63-4 were inoculated to Aquilaria sinensis under sterilized and unsterilized conditions, sugar addition and non-sugar addition, and incubated for 60 days in room and constant temperature chambers, and the effect of spalting was compared. Results show that unsterilized wood samples were polluted by fungi in wood and resulted blocky gray-black staining; sterilized wood samples were exposed to mold in the air during inoculation operation, which caused slight pollution on wood sample surface. However, there was a high probability that zone lines could be formed in the wood samples with glucose addition, and there were almost no zone lines in the wood samples without glucose addition. The addition of glucose can promote the colonization success rate of Diaporthe sp. 63-4 on wood blocks. Two strains of Diaporthe spp. fungi formed zone lines in room temperature 6.0−24.7 ℃, humidity 76.1%−96.4%.
