Effects of Light Intensity and Nitrogen Application on Growth and Nitrogen Content of Bletilla Striata Seedlings

  • In order to investigate the effects of light intensity and nitrogen application rate on growth and nitrogen content of Bletilla striata seedlings, three light intensities and five nitrogen application levels were set for a total of 15 treatments for pot experiment. The results showed that the interaction of light and nitrogen on biomass did not significantly, when the light intensity was 40% natural light, the effect of light on the biomass of Bletilla striata seedling was maximized. The maximum value is (1.06 ± 0.12) g, which is 1.34 times of 20% natural light and 1.03 times of 60% natural light. When the nitrogen application is 500 mg/kg, the biomass of Bletilla striata seedling is the largest (1.03 ± 0.16) g, which is 1.13 times of control group; The interaction of light and nitrogen had a significant effect on leaves area and total nitrogen content of Bletilla striata seedling. When the light intensity was 40% natural light and the nitrogen application rate was 500 mg/kg, the leaf area and total nitrogen content were the largest, (39.31 ± 0.16) cm2, (29.38 ± 0.43) g/kg, respectively, which are 258.11% and 190.78% of the minimum, respectively. It is concluded that moderate shading and applying nitrogen fertilizer can promote the growth of Bletilla striata and increase nutrient accumulation.
