Abstract
From 2006 to 2007, orthogonal test with 3 factors and 3 levels was conducted on the seedling substrates of 2 precious tropical timber tree species of Mesua ferrea and Dalbergia fusca, using compound fertilizer, organic fertilizer and disinfectant. The effects of base fertilizer and disinfection on seedling growth of 2 tropical precious timber tree species were analyzed. The findings indicated that the effects of experimental factors on the growth of seedlings of different tree species were different. The growth of seedlings of D. fusca was significantly different among different treatments, while that of M. ferrea was not significant. D. fusca seedlings can grow healthily without topdressing and applying fungicides in seedling management by the selected base fertilizer and matrix disinfection method, which greatly reduces the cost of multiple topdressing and spraying antibacterial agents in seedling cultivation, avoids steep seedling growth, improves seedling quality, and ensures the survival of afforestation. The results showed that the height and ground diameter of M. ferrea seedlings in 4-month-old were 40.5 cm and 3.56 mm respectively, and in 14-month-old were 65.9 cm and 6.16 mm respectively.
