Studies on the Cross Affinity of Rhododendron hybridum and Rhododendron spinuliferum (Rhododendron)

  • This test use Rhododendron hybridum 'Sima' as the female parent, the use of wild rhododendron Rhododendron spinuliferum as male parent, with conventional pollination, NAA daub stigma, repeated pollination, remove the stigma and heated pollen and delay the 5 kinds of pollination, pollen tube of cerasus fluorescent observation, statistical ovary-swelling rate, capsule setting rate, the number of capsule seed, the seed germination rate, green seedling rate, etc, which are the indices of affinity, discuss the influences of pollination method for affinity, and affinity of the combination evaluation. The results showed that no progeny was obtained from conventional pollination, and the green seedling rate, green seedling coefficient and the number of fertile seeds per unit of the progeny were low in the evaluation of cross affinity, and the comprehensive evaluation of fertility was sterile type. The use of NAA smear stigma, repeated pollination, heated pollen, and delayed pollination could effectively improve the success rate of the cross combination of R. hybridum 'Sima' (♀) × R. spinuliferum(♂).
