Study on Decorative Technology of Castanopsis faberi Veneer

  • In order to promote the high value utilization of Castanopsis faberi plantation wood, this paper taked eucalyptus plywood as the base material, studied the influence of glue and hot pressing technology (glue spread, hot pressing temperature, hot pressing time and hot pressing pressure) on the moisture content, dipping peeling and surface bonding strength of the C. faberi veneer through orthogonal test method, so as to obtained the production technology of the C. faberi veneer. Besides, the effects of different kinds of varnishes (nitrocellulose varnish, waterborne varnish and polyurethane varnish) on the color difference parameters and the physicochemical properties of the paint film of the C. faberi veneer were investigated. The results showed that the moisture content, immersion peeling strength and surface bonding strength of the C. faberi veneer met the requirements of the national standard. The optimal hot pressing process was 120 g/m2 of glue, 160 ℃ of hot pressing temperature, 60 s of hot pressing time and 0.3 MPa of hot pressing pressure. The impact resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesion and other properties of nitrocellulose varnish and coating film met the requirements of the national standard. The impact resistance of polyurethane varnish coating film did not meet the requirements of the national standard. The abrasion resistance of water-based varnish coating film did not meet the requirements of the national standard, but it had the best adhesion and impact resistance. The Castanopsis faberi Hance wood had beautiful texture, excellent bonding, hot pressing and finishing performance, and had great potential for high-end decorative panel development.
