Study on Ex-situ Cultivation and Propagation of Berberis wilsonae

  • The experiments were conducted with Berberis wisoniae including the ex-situ cultivation sowing propagation with the stored seeds and cuttage propagation by different combinations of cutting materials with varied rooting powder dosages. The results showed that B. wisoniae had strong adaptability to the environment and it could be propagated by different approaches. The survival rate of sowing was affected by the duration of seed storage, the experiment showed that sowing with the freshly harvested quality seeds would be the best. Whereas the best cuttage propagation could be obtained with cuttings collected from artificial plantation and treated with rooting powder.
