Study on Difference in Seed Germination Ability Among Different Geographical Provenances of Platycladus orientalis

  • A seed test on 23yearold experimental plantation with 37 geographical provenances of Platycladus orientalis on Baodugu Forest Farm in Zaozhuang, Shandong Province was conducted by taking germination percentage, germination potential, vigor index and germination value as test indices. The results showed that there were significant differences in the germination ability of P. orientalis seed among the provenances. The germination ability of Fujian Nanping provenance (FNP), Liaoning Lingyuan provenance (LLY) and Gansu Huixian provenance (GHX) was stronger and the germination rate was 65.00%, 62.50% and 52.00%, respectively. The germination ability of Shandong Lingyan provenance (SLY), Henan Lingbao provenance (HLB), Neimeng Wulashan provenance (NWS) was weaker, and the germination rate was only 6.50%, 7.50% and 10.50%, respectively. The provenances from Fujian Nanping (FNP), Liaoning Lingyuan(LLY) and Gansu Huixian(GHX) were identified as the best for the Baodugu Forest Farm and the adjacent areas in Shandong Province according to the seed germination ability indexes.
