Effect of Environmental Factors and Storage Duration on Seed Germination of Cyclobalanopsis chungii

  • The germination related physiological indexes of Cyclobalanopsis chungii seeds under different storage conditions were determined and the influence of temperature, soil moisture and germination substrate factors upon the germination capacity of C.chungii seeds were analyzed to study the production problem that the C.chungii seeds are generally hard to be stored and the seedlings are hard to be bred. The results showed that seed germination percentage, moisture content and soluble sugar content of C.chungii seeds dropped significantly with extension of the seed storage duration, the germination ability of C.chungii seeds would be lost after 3 months’ storage under 4℃.Temperature and soil moisture were the major environmental factors affecting the seed germination of C.chungii.The seed germination rate reached the highest under conditions at 25℃ in temperature and 2424% of soil moisture.
