A Study on Niches of the Major Tree Species Populations in Alniphyllum fortunei Community in Meihua Mount Nature Reserve

The niche breadth, niche proportional similarity and niche overlap of the major tree species populations in Alniphyllum fortunei community in Meihua Mount National Nature Reserve were studied by taking sample plots as onedimension resource location and important value of tree species as the symbolic character of the resource location. The results were as follows: the niche breadth value of A. fortunei was the biggest among the species of the community mainly because of its strong adaptability to the environment, which occupied the absolutely dominant status in the community, while other species represented comparatively narrower niche breadth. Generally speaking, the niche proportional similarity among the major species populations in the A. fortunei community was low and there was not much niche overlap, showing that the interpopulation competition was not very intensive in this community. The results of this paper could provide studies on community structure, succession and intraspecies relations of the A. fortunei community in Meihua Mount National Nature Reserve with theoretical foundation in the future, and these results could also provide the planting the mixed forest composed of A. fortunei in this area with theoretical guidance.
