Comprehensive Appraisal on Ornamental Characteristics and Adaptability of Plants in Family Melastomateae

  • Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to appraise the ornamental characteristics and adaptability of 16 species in the family of Melastomateae in order to explore the ornamental and landscaping value of the plant species in this family. The results showed that the ornamental landscaping value of the species Tibouchina urvillean, T. semidecandr, T. heteromal, Melastome normale and M. intermedium was the highest. The ornamental and landscaping value of Melastome dodecandrum, M. affin, M. candidum, and Phyllagathis fordii was higher than the rest species. This study was supposed to lay scientific foundation for making better use of the wild plant resources in the family of Melastomateae.
