Research Advances in Forest Type Classification by Remote Sensing Technology

  • The theoretical basis of remote sensing classification of forest types was analyzed from the aspects of both optical remote sensing and microwave remote sensing.The forest type identification and related information extraction technology applied in China and overseas were summarized,the estimation of physical parameters for forest types were summarized.The remote sensing classification methods commonly used for forest types were induced,and the corresponding research results were introduced.The development trend of remote sensing classification of forest types were discussed from 3 point of views,i.e.,spatial distribution of forest types,spectral characteristics of forest types and remote sensing classification of forest types based on hyperspectral remote sensing.
