Sapling Breeding of Pinus kesiya var.langbianensis by Softwood Cuttage

  • The comparative analysis, variance analysis and multiple comparisons were applied to find out the right combinations of the matrix, type of plant growth regulators and their concentration, age of the cuttings as well as the time to conduct the cuttage propagation for Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis in order to explore the internal, external factors that influence upon cuttage rooting of the tree species, and the interactions between the internal and external factors. The results showed that Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis belonged to callus rooting type plant species. The appropriate length of the softwood cutting was 8-10cm. There was an obvious age effect for the cuttage propagation for Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis, the rooting rate of oneyearold cuttings was significantly higher than that of twoyearold ones. It was showed by the experiment that the ordinary mountainous red soil was the ideal substrate for cuttage propagation of Pinus kesiya var. langbianensis with softwood cuttings.
