Feminism Based Study on Public Greenspace Design Methodology

  • The traditional public greenspace design was generally short of taking care of the female because of paying more attention to the universal purpose while neglecting the utilization characteristics for the female. The differences between the female and the male in social status, domestic labor sharing, physical and cognitional abilities and the difference in esthetic appreciation were analyzed based on the feminism principles. The examples of inconvenience to the female while making use of the present greenspaces were analyzed, the different feeling and varied requirements towards the greenspaces by the female were elaborated. Feminism based greenspace design methodology was discussed, which emphasized on the delicacy of landscape, the intimacy of spacescale, feminized facilities, diversity of plant disposal and the creation of overall security in a whole.
