Nutritional Comparison on Main Food of Hoolock Gibbon (Hoolock hoolock) in Spring and Autumn at Nankang, Gaoligong Mountain

  • The study deals with the food samples of Hoolock gibbon collected from Nankang,Gaoligong Moutain in spring and autumn. Components of crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, Ca and total P in samples are determined through the Kai method, acidbase method. Nutritional differences in different food and different food types between spring and autumn are compared through SPSS 16.0 software and tested the correlation nutritional data. Thirteen plant species have been respectively collected in spring and autumn. One species of stem, 4 species of fruits and 8 species of leaves are included in spring. While 1 species of seed, 2 species of flowers, 5 species of fruits and 5 species of leaves are included in autumn. Species composition of food is different between spring and autumn. Only Rhododendron moulmainense is the common shared food species in spring and autumn. Results show that, there are significant difference in crude protein content (P=0016) between leaves and fruit in Ca (P=0003) and total P (P=0010) in spring and autumn. The other food nutrients have no significant difference between spring and autumn (P>005).
