Abstract
The contents of different chemical components of Jatropha curcas seeds collected from different production areas in Yunnan Province were determined, and the relevant data were comparatively analyzed. The results showed that there were some differences in the contents of chemical components in the seeds sampled from different production areas. The oil contents varied between 46% to 58%; the crude protein content changed from 20% to 28%; the total sugar content varied from 1.6% to 2.9% and the ash content changed from 4.1% to 4.9%. The contents of microelements changed greatly among the different production areas. The content of each microelement in the seeds collected from Huaping area was generally higher than that of sampled from other areas. Comprehensively speaking, the oil content in the seeds grown in Lujiang area was the highest, which would be the superior quality provenance for biodiesel manufacturing. The nutrient contents of the J. curcas seeds produced in Yunnan Province were comparatively higher, the seeds would be consumed as animal feedstuffs after defatting and detoxification.
