Floristic Analysis of Wild Medicinal Plant Resources of Mount Tiantai in Zhejiang Province

  • The survey showed that there were 834 species of wild medicinal plants in Mt. Tiantai, Zhejiang Province, belonging to 482 genera and 131 families. The results indicated that most of the wild medicinal plant species were dicotyledon plants that accounted for 89.93% of the total, belonging to 111 families, 423 genera and 750 species. The 78 dominant families took 59.54% of the total families, each family contained 2-10 species, and 345 species were comprised. There were 318 genera that included only one species in each genus, accounting for 65.98% of the total genera. 147 genera had 2-5 species each, which accounted for 30.50% of the total genera. The flora had wide relationship with other regions in the world and there were diversified areal types in the flora. At the family level, the tropical components were dominant and it was followed by the temperate types. The flora was characterized by temperate and subtropical components at the genus level. There were 13 endemic genera to China and 15 rare medicinal species belonging to the endangered categories in the flora.
