Study on Drought Resistance of Wild Flower Germplasms in Families of Melastomataceae and Chloranthaceae

  • Eight species of wild flower germplasm from families of Melastomataceae and Chloranthaceae were chosen as test materials to comparatively analyze the drought resistance capacity after having been treated with simulated drought conditions. The relative water content, relative conductivity and total soluble sugar content of the leaf samples were determined in this study. The results showed that the relative water content in the leaves of all the 8 species dropped under the drought stress, whereas the relative conductivity and total soluble sugar content of these wild species germplasm rose to different extent. The study showed that the drought resistance capacity of J2 and C germplasm from family Chloranthaceae was obviously stronger than all of the wild germplasms from family Melastomataceae. Among the species germplasms in Melastomataceae family, the drought resistance capacity of Y20, Y21, Y23 was higher than that of Y3, Y16 and Y27.
