Study on the Oxidation of α-Pinene Catalyzed by Heteropoly Acid Loaded Mesoporous Molecular Sieves

  • The catalysts of Heteropoly Acid Loaded Mesoporous Molecular Sieve MCM-41 (PW/MCM-41) were prepared by soaking phosphotungstic acid ( PW ) in the mesoporous sieve MCM-41. The influence of roasting temperature and the dosage of phosphotungstic acid loaded were discussed. The catalysts were characterized by IR and used for the epoxidation reaction of α-pinene in the presence of low concentration of peroxyacetic acid. The results showed that the conversion rate of α-pinene could reach 75.20%, and the selectivity of 2,3- epoxypinane was 63.79% when the molar ratio between α-pinene with peracetic acid was 3∶1. The concentration of phase transfer catalyst tetrabutyl ammonium bromide was 0.06mol/L, the dosage of PW/MCM-41 catalyst was 3% (α-pinene), and the reaction time in CHCl3 was 2.0 h when the temperature was maintained below 15℃. This study provided a better way for the epoxidation reaction of α-pinene with a low concentration of peroxyacetic acid.
