Effect of αMethylacrylic Acid Grafting Technology on Properties of Wood ParticlePlastic Composite

  • In order to improve the properties of particleplastic composite (PPC), αMethylacrylic acid was used to graft PP by solid state grafting polymerization, and the influences of the appending proportion and treatment time on the physical and mechanical properties of wood PPC particleboard were investigated. The results showed that when the ratio of αMethylacrylic acid was 8% or 10%, along with the increment of treating duration, the mechanical properties of the PPC were improved and the thickness swelling was decreased. While the αMethylacrylic acid ratio was increased to 12%, the mechanical properties were decreased gradually with the increment of treating duration. The comprehensive comparison indicated that the optimal technology was under the conditions of the temperature at 85℃, with 12% of αMethylacrylic acid concentration and 1.5hrs as the treatment duration.
