The Thermal Expansion and Flexural Properties of Wood Plastic Composites

  • The thermal expansion and flexural properties of the wood plastic composites (WPC) were studied. WPC were manufactured by injection molding by taking high density polyethylene (HDPE 6706) as the base, MAPE as coupling agent reinforced by pine wood powder. It was showed that the flexural strength and modulus of the WPC was higher than those of the pure HDPE, which were increased with the increment of wood powder content. As the wood powder loading was increased, the thermal expansion of the composites was slightly decreased. The results showed that the wood powder added laid greater influence on the longitudinal LTEC than that of the tangential one.
