Study on Joint Intensity of Wood Tenon of Laminated Bamboo Furniture

  • Taking regular bamboo plate and the laminated bamboo material manufactured with lowformaldehyde UF resin in Jianou Township, Nanping County, Fujian Province as main raw materials, an orthogonal design was adopted to analyze the influence of wood tenon diameter, the depth of tenon wood inserted into the plate hole and the interference of tenon and the plate hole upon the joint intensity of laminated bamboo furniture. The results showed that the wood tenon joint intensity of laminated bamboo furniture was significantly affected by tenon diameter, insertion depth and the interference factors. The joint strength of wood tenon in laminated bamboo furniture could be obviously increased with increment of the tenon diameter, insertion depth and interference within moderate scale. Taking comprehensive consideration into the wood tenon joint structure for laminated bamboo furniture manufacture, the optimized conditions to improve the strength of tenon joints were 10 mm of tenon diameter, 19 mm as insertion depth, and 0.2 mm of interference.
