Effect of Wood Powder Content on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Wood Powder / High Density Polyethylene Composites

  • The effect of wood powder content on density,water absorption rate,mechanical prperties and rheological behavior of wood powder/high density polyethylene(HDPE) composites was studied.The results showed that when wood powder content was increased from 50% to 70%,the water absorption rate of HDPE composite was promoted,the density flexural strength,and elastic modulus was increased by 15%,10% and 78% ,respectively,whereas the impact strength was decreased by 32%.The rheological analysis indicated that the solid like behavior of HDPE composite became more significant with the increase of wood powder content.
