Selection of Elite Infertility Tolerant Progeny from Superior Cunninghamia lanceolata Provenances with“t”Determination Principle

  • Based on the genetic rules guiding the character isolation of Cunninghamia lanceolata filial generation, the preliminary stands of plus trees with strong adaptability and rapidgrowth performance without thinning felling were selected from the plantations of the filial offspring of fine provenance of C. lanceolata on ⅢⅥ grades of site conditions. 13 elite infertility tolerant and rapidgrowth progenies were selected by means of applying the “t” determination principle method by taking tree height and basal diameter as evaluation criteria. The growth of tree height and basal diameter criteria of the elite saplings was much higher than that of the average saplings, indicating that the elite plants would be of great application potential to timber production.
