Effect of Different Fertilization Treatments on Growth of Camellia oleifera Container Seedlings

  • The effect of four fertilization treatments on the growth of Camellia oleifera container seedlings was studied. The results showed that the growth of container seedlings was significantly promoted by nitrogen application, by which the seedling height and basal diameter were obviously larger than the control (P<005). The optimum fertilization treatment was 25g per hundred plants at 20 d interval by irrigating the seedlings with 02%-05% aqueous solution. The effect of different fertilization treatments on large sized C. oleifera container seedlings were studied by adopting three factors and three levels orthogonal experiment design. The results showed that the effect on growth of the large sized C. oleifera container seedlings was ranked in the order as the amount of effective components in the fertilizers > the proportions of N∶P∶K > and the fertilization methods. The optimum fertilization treatment was the composition of N∶P∶K as in 4∶1∶1 ratio, 09g of effective components contained in the fertilizer per plant by equal proportional increment of the major elements in the fertilizers.
