Abstract
The influence of moisture content (MC) on the static bending modulus of elasticity (MOE) of the fingerjoints of PF bonded LVL of poplar (PFLVL) was studied. The results showed that along with the increase of MC, the dropping ratio of the MOE for the fingerjointed PFLVL was significantly higher than that of the nonjointed PFLVL, and the dropping ratio of the MOE for the vertical joint was greater than that of for the horizontal joint the MOE losing rate of the vertical joint the horizontal joint and the nonjoint of the PFLVL was 3673%, 34.05% and 3074% respectively when the moisture content was increased from 12% to 25%. The results showed that the MOE loss of the PFLVL caused by moisture absorption accounted for about 20% of the total MOE loss, and the MOE loss of the vertical joint PFLVL caused by moisture absorption was less than that of the horizontal joint PFLVL.
