Study on Preparation and Properties of Thermosetting Dialdehyde Starch Adhesive

  • Starch adhesive was prepared by using dialdehyde starch as main raw material,and the properties of the starch adhesive were modified with isocyanate as crosslinking agent.The effects of the additive amount of PVA, pH value of the reaction system, the additive amount of isocyanate and hot press temperature on the properties of starch adhesive were studied. The results showed that the optimal conditions for making starch adhesive with qualified properties included 5 wt% of PVA, pH value as 2.0, and 20 wt% of isocyanate. The plywood prepared with the above adhesive and hotpressed under 110℃ could meet the application demand as II category of plywood matching GB/T 9846-2004.
