Study on Preparation and Properties of Reconstituted Lumber of Resin Impregnated Poplar Veneer

  • The effects of different compression ratios of the rollerpressing, and different pressure during high frequency hotpressing on the physical and mechanical properties of the reconstituted poplar lumber were studied by impregnating melamineform aldehyde resin into each individual poplar veneer through rollerpressing before lamination and then molding by high frequency hotpressing. The results showed that the high frequency hotpressing could considerably reduce the pressing time, and greatly improve the production efficiency compared to traditional hotpressing base on the molding of thick mat. It was also found that the pressure during hotpressing had significant effect on most physical and mechanical properties of the lumber; however, compression ratio had no significant effect on MOR and MOE of the reconstituted lumber. The performance of the flooring reconstituted lumber could meet the desirable specifications under the condition of 20% compression ratio, under 20MPa pressure during hotpressing, and the corresponding density was 068g/cm3, with MOR as 5019MPa, and MOE as 419161MPa.
