Study on Beijing Landscape Pattern and Change in Its Thermal Environment Effect

  • The tempospatial changes of thermal effects in the urban area of Beijing city were analyzed by studying variations in the splitting index (SPLIT), aggregation index (AI), landscape shape index (LSI) and by retrieving the land surface temperature LST with TM/ETM+ thermal infrared band data according to the twodecade span landuse data individually collected in 1992, 2000 and 2010. The correlations among the landscape pattern index (LPI), the normalized vegetation index (NDVI) and the land surface temperature in 2010 were analyzed. The results indicated that the land surface temperature in Beijing City increased and the scale of urban heat island effect expanded during 1992-2010. The land surface temperature could be well reflected by landscape shape index and splitting index. The land surface temperature was negatively correlated with splitting index, landscape shape index and normalized vegetation index.
