Dynamic and Density of Carbon Storage in Forest Ecosystem in Boshan National Forest Farm

  • Base on the forest resource inventory data from 1987 to 2007, using volumederived biomass method, the paper calculated the forest ecosystem carbon storage in Boshan National Forest Farm, Zhumadian City, Henan Province. The result showed that from 1989 to 2007, the total forest ecosystem carbon stored had increased from 421 304.99 t to 636 843.53 t, the carbon density had increased from 94.09 t/hm2 to 113.51 t/hm2, carbon storage increased significantly. The average of carbon density of tree layer in 2007 is 33.90 t/hm2, which was higher than the average level of Henan Province and near to that of national. The largest contributors to forest ecosystem carbon ‘sink’ function in Boshan National Forest Farm was near mature forest, matures forest and over mature forest, but as for the ‘sink’ potential, was in the middle aged forest and near mature forest.
