Early Stage Test and Selection of Catalpa fargesii f. duclouxii Clones in Hubei

  • Selection of 1year and 2year old male sterile clones of Catalpa fargesii f. duclouxii in Jianghan plain Hubei which introduced from Guizhou as materials to measure tree DBH and height. The results showed that the average diameter and height of 1year old clones were 2490cm and 2943m, and 2year old clones were 4289cm and 4220m, respectively. The results of ANOVA showed that the growth variation in different stand age was significant among clones. The repeatability of diameter and height for 2year old clones were 7121% and 6407%, respectively. DBH and height were taken as indexes, and weighted coefficient method was applied to estimate. Finally, 6 fine clones were chosen, the selection rate was 20%.
