The Effect of Slope Directions on the Morphological Plasticity of Phyllostachys heteroclada Natural Forest

  • In the main distribution area of Phyllostachys heteroclada in northeast Yunnan, some typical morphology index of Phyllostachys heteroclada natural forest were surveyed to research the morphological plasticity of the Phyllostachys heteroclada natural forest under different slope directions. The results showed that, under different light intensities, the morphological features of Phyllostachys heteroclada exhibited obviously adaptive features, and showed significant differences in different slope. From sunny to shady slope, the density of Phyllostachys heteroclada natural forest showed a decreasing trend, the density of Phyllostachys heteroclada natural forest on the sunny slope was 49.45 % higher than that on the shady slope in Jiucheng town, 5325% higher than shady slope in Longan town. BDH, height, section length, branch length appeared an gradually increasing regularity from Asunny slope to shady slop, which were increased by 5281%、4081%、2585、3061%, respectively. The water resources appeared environmental heterogeneity formed by secondary distribution that from slope to light is one of the dominant factors of the morphological plasticity of phyllostachys heteroclada.
