Investigation and Analysis of the Freezing Injury on the Main Garden Plants in Kunming in Winter and Spring of 2013-2014

  • The freezing injury on the main garden plants in Kunming city were investigated and analyzed under a sustained low temperature in the winter and spring of 2013-2014. The results showed that 22.41% of the total 366 common species suffered "severe" and "very severe" injury grades. Among them, 86.25% species were tropics-distributed types. Herbs were more vulnerable than wooden plants. The freezing injury degrees of the plants were also related with their habitats, greenland types, planting modes and biological characteristics etc.. According to these results, some suggestions about reduction and prevention of garden plants freezing damage in Kunming city were also proposed in this paper.
