Abstract: There arc fifty-eight specimens of Phasianus colchicus subspp.from fourteen counties of Yunnan which have been looked into.It has been found that the distribution area of these subspecies in Yunnan are not altogether agreeable to those of the former records.1.Specimens:4♂♂ Ten-clumg(Tengyui〉,Li-jian(Likiang),1♂,Lu-shui are agreeable to Phasianus colchicus elegans EJJiot.2.Specimens:12♂♂ Mong-zi(Mengtsz),5♂♂ Pin-bian,l♂ Shi-zong,l♂ E-shan,l♂ Xin-ping,l♂ Jing-ping,5♂ Kunming,5♂,An-ning,10♂♂,Yi-liang,6♂♂ Zhao-tung are agreeable to Phasianus colchicus rothschildi La Touche.While in the former records which the specimens from Kunming and Zhao-tung were referred to P.c.elegans are not quite true to the recent specimens.3.The hues of the specimens 3♂♂ from Nan-hua,situated at the geographical demarcation line,between eastern and western districts of Yunnan,characterized by their intermidiate features of these two subspecies are quite likely of the hybride ones(P.c.elegans×P.c.rothschildi).
