Abstract: With complication and varieties in topography, an average altitude of 1000 metres over sea level, various vegetation, the average temperature of 15℃, the annual precipitation over 1100 mm, and the relative humidity of about 80%, Guizhou is situated in the eastern part of Yunnan-Guizhou plateau, southwest of China. It is of humid and monsoon climate, there is no intense heat in summer, and no severe cold in winter, and characterized as subtropic zone. Therefore it is suitable for the growth and multiplication of a great many fungi.This report is a preliminary study on the identification and ecological distribution of the edible fungi from Guizhou Province in China. The specimens were collected by the authors from 1979 to 1991. They include 241 speoies and belong to 2 subphyla, 4 classes, 10 orders, 30 families, 74 genera. Among them, 3 new species were described by the authors:Termitomyces albiceps He, T. cylindricus He, Volvariella brumalis He, 5. species are only discovered from Guizhou in China:Cantharellus purpuraceus Iwode, Tricholoma portentosum(Fr.)Quel., T. sulphureum(Bull.:Fr.)Kumm., Termitomyces clypeatus Heim and T. globulus Heim et Goossens.All specimens are now deposited in the Mycological Herbarium of the Institute of Biology, Guizhou Academy of Sciences.
