Abstract: Nanjian village,which occupies an area of about 31.5 hm² in Xinping County,is located in the Ailaoshan mountains of central Yunnan,belonging to an area with a typical dry-hot valley climate.A conservational and developmental program of the Dai ethnic minority culture and ecology village was assessed and approved by experts in 1999.It was recommended that a demonstration village reflecting the Dai culture ecological concept and tradition be constructed.The program has been carried out since 2000,work on house transformation,ethnic museum construction and environment management have been started.The landscape design of the village including entrance,pathway and the wholesome is made in this paper in the light of fully embodying landscape characteristics of the Dai people and representing typical cultural features of the Huayao Dai ethnic minority.
