Abstract: The geographical distribution and the distribution patterns of all the species in genus Osmanthus was analyzed in this paper.It is considered that this genus belongs to East Asia &Northern America discontinuous distribution type with five distribution characteristics.The ornamental value of the genus Osmanthus was evaluated and the utilization prospect was analyzed based on reviewing the present ornamental utilization status of the plants in this genus both at home and abroad
