Abstract:
Dioryctria rubella is an important insect pest that damages the cones of
Pinus armandii.Its life history and biological characteristics were described in this paper.It was observed that
Dioryctria rubella had 2 generations with late instar larvae overwintering in the cone of
Pinus armandii in Zixi Mountain, Chuxiong Municipality, Yunnan Province.Adults of
Dioryctria rubella usually emerged during 12:00~18:00, courted and mated at night.The adult emergence quantity of
Dioryctria rubella was affected by temperature and rainfall during the emergence period, and the adults would choose oviposition locations andmainly lay eggs on the surface of 2 -year -old cones of
Pinus armandii.
