Abstract:
The characteristics of wind-proof, fast -growing and high -yield of
Casuarina equisetifolia plantations with densities of 1 667, 2 500, 3 333, 5 000, 6 667, 8 333 and 10 000 tree/hm
2 respectively were evaluated by the method of polygonal decision.The results showed that the wind -proof, fast -growing and high -yield characteristics of the stands decreased along with the increment of plantation densities.Among the seven different densities studied for
Casuarina equisetifolia, the best results of wind -resistance and high -yield properties were demonstrated by the stand with density of 2 500 tree/hm
2, whereas the stand with density of 1 667 tree/hm
2 showed the fastest growing speed and it produced the second to the best of characteristics of wind -resistance and high -yield.The comprehensive evaluation index value of the stand with density of 1 667 tree/hm
2was the highest and that of the stand with 2 500 tree/hm
2 was the second.It was suggested that the rational plantation densities of
Casuarina equisetifolia in sandy soil should be around 1 667 tree/hm
2 to 2 500 tree/hm
2.
