Abstract:
Temperature characteristics of winter bud dormancy of
Platanus acerifolia were studied and the following results were obtained:The winter buds of
Platanus acerifolia were characterized by shallow dormancy. The sprouting capacity of the winter buds was determined by the force balance between the oppressing force of the bud scale and the sprouting forces from the phyllome, growth point or flower primordia. The dormancy inducing period of the winter buds of
Platanus acerifolia was from September to October, and the deep dormancy started at later October, meanwhile the dormancy of winter buds of
Platanus acerifolia was released gradually by the lower temperature in the winter. The range of lower temperature to release the winter bud dormancy was quite large, 15℃ and 20℃ could also have the lower temperature effect. It was proposed that the wide cultivation of
Platanus acerifolia from subtropical to temperate zones might result in its eco-physiological adaptability of winter buds dormancy.
