Abstract:
The species structure, lateral and vertical structures and the seasonal aspects were investigated and analyzed on the landscaping plant communities in Wanchun Garden standing for Chinese classical royal garden (1 546 m
2 in area) and in Mingzhu Garden standing for Chinese modern garden (1 500 m
2 in area). There were 27 plant species, belonging to 22 genera and 17 families in the former; and there were 36 plant species, belonging to 32 genera and 26 families in the later. The horizontal arrangement of the landscaping plants in Wanchun Garden was mainly in natural way, whereas mainly in regular way in Mingzhu Garden. Both gardens showed vertical structure formed by trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, and there was special architecture built for vertical greening in Mingzhu Garden. There were more obvious seasonal aspects formed by the landscaping plant communities in Wanchun Garden than those of in Mingzhu Garden.
